The Brickman Family at the Brickman Ranch!

(This is a belated post from the fall of 2022.)

As you may have guessed by the title of this blog post, this particular family chose to have their photos taken on their beautiful ranch- and it was definitely a good choice!  Our family knows the Brickmans from church, but plenty of people know them in a myriad of other capacities- not least of which is through their working ranch, which features a whole bunch of livestock, some feed crops, a creek, beautiful scenery, roaming herds of wild animals, and even an air-bnb!  They really put the "work" in the term "working ranch."  In fact, plenty of people know the Mom/ Wife through her photography, which she somehow finds time for, among all the other things she does.

Because they could technically just use a camera on a timer, I was honored to be asked to take family portraits for the Brickmans.  They really are a wonderful family, genuine salt-of-the-earth people who love Jesus and love their neighbors.  This photo shoot captures just a hint of the deep care and humor they share as a family, and I hope it's an encouragement to you, too!

It can be tricky processing later, but I love shooting into the sun.  On this particular afternoon, the sun was flaming gold and didn't disappoint.

This little trio is just plain adorable.  And their littlest guy has such expressive eyes!

Fall is really a perfect time for a photo shoot.  The grass fades, the leaves pop, the bones of the trees start showing...

This one may be one of my all time favorites.  The camera doesn't capture what isn't already there.

Another favorite of mine.  Their oldest boy has such spunk, and it really comes through here in his body language toward his Dad.

This one makes me chuckle- their little guy is walking like a toy soldier, as toddlers often do, so it captures that short window of time before that little mannerism is gone.

Awww, I love it!  I know these photos can be so embarrassing when you're the one being photographed ("Be romantic!  Pretend I'm not here!"), but they really are photographic gold.  I won't apologize.  ;)

Okay guys, you've seen just a snippet of the Brickmans' family photo shoot from waaay back in 2022.  I don't know about you, but I think they might just be due for another session soon...  ;)

Until next time!
~ Kathryn
