Meet Baby Jackson! ~ Tacoma Newborn Photographer

Earlier this month, I was given the rare opportunity to take a road trip to Colorado to visit my family.  Of course, it was a fun, relaxing, time away from my usual responsibilities, but (let's be honest) where could I ever travel without my camera?  The fact that my brother and his lovely wife had just had their first baby a month prior and needed some portraits taken of him was, well... serendipitous.  :)  I couldn't pass up such an opportunity, and I'm glad I didn't!

Baby Jackson is sweet little guy, mild-mannered, and a great sleeper.  That being said, babies are almost always a little "off" on the day of their photo shoot, and Jackson was no different.  He spent the majority of the session awake, and we made the most of it!  His fussy times proved a great opportunity to get shots of his Mommy and Daddy cuddling him- and I can't complain about that!

As with most newborn shoots, I shot Jackson's portraits in his own home, surrounded by the rooms and furniture that will become familiar to him as he grows.  (It certainly doesn't hurt that they have a beautiful home!)  And I was delighted to find that my sister-in-law had several very special pieces- like the rocking horse, the antique chair, and the blue crib/ bassinet- which had been passed down to her, and held a lot of special meaning.  It brought a perfect combination of sentiment and vintage charm to Jackson's portraits.

So take a look and get to know this beautiful family, of which I am honored to be an (extended) part!

Just look at my handsome little nephew!

With windows that big, I had to go for a dramatic shot!

Such a little stud!

Jackson wasn't too sure what he thought of this, but Daddy was standing just off camera.  :)

I just love how new babies look at their Mommies.  Studying.

This is one of my favorites from the shoot.  What an adorable family they make!

Father-son sweetness.

Roxie (the family dog) was a doting pillow for Jackson.   She seemed very aware of the responsibility of her position.

Jackson's going to grow up to be quite the good-lookin' guy, if his parents are any indication.  :)

What a face!

I love this pop of color.  It's a wonder he gets any sleep with such a bright bed!

Such a sweet face.  I wonder what he's thinking about?

We did these last two outdoors by Lake Loveland.  This little guy is so well loved!

Picture perfect.  :)
Well, I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did.  It was such a blessing for me not only to be able to photograph my brother, my sister (in-law) and my sweet nephew, but even to spend time with them at this exciting point in their lives.  They are a beautiful family inside and out, and I hope they treasure these captured moments forever!
