This week brought a new experience for our family- our first rodeo! (Consequently, I can now use the phrase, "This isn't my first rodeo...") ;)
The Chugwater Chili Festival and Rodeo is an annual event around these parts. We'd been told that it was a local gem and not to miss it- so we didn't! The event itself surpassed the hype (we'll definitely be going next year). We appreciated the hometown feel of the rodeo, since these are local folks competing- not professionals. I was awed by the rich tradition of the whole event- from the prayer and national anthem at the start (so refreshing) to the sheer courage on display during the bronc riding. It was truly amazing. This is the kind of America I wanted for my children, and I am beyond grateful to God for leading us to make our home in Wyoming.
So without further ado, take a look at some highlights below. Click on the photos to see them in a larger format. (And if you know any of these cowboys personally, please send them this link! I thought they might like to see their photos, too!)
I hate to admit that I took close to 600 photos of the rodeo, but these are some of the best, which is why I'm sharing them with all of you. If you have a chance to see a rodeo in person, I highly recommend it! I had no idea what I've been missing all these years.
